of a millionaire last november. new at noon, ktvu's janine de la vega joins us live with information that the prostitute giving information to two gang members about the mansion. >> reporter: all four defendants in this case will be appearing here in court on february 4th to enter a plea. the chronicle is reporting that the lone female defendant gave people associated with an oakland gang information that ultimately led to this home invasion and murder. 24-year-old raven dixon is behind bars. she also faces a gang enhancement. the chronicle is reports that she worked as a prostitute for kumar and passed along information about the mansion, including the lateout. coincidently, the oakland police chief said that is the same group involved in a gang war. the chronicle sources say shows people hatched a plan to invade the estate. the district attorney's office have charged three others with kumer's murder. his home was broken into last november while he and his wife were home. kumar's body was found inside but the police won't say how he was killed. the court had documents sealed because

are investigating a bold kidnapping attempt of a 2-year-old girl outside of her home. ktvu eight janine de la vega is in san jose and talked with police a short time ago. janine, what did they tell you? >> reporter: a police spokesperson told me he's checking in with detectives right now to see if they got any tips overnight. now, they are taking that attempted kidnapping that happened here on dale court very serious. they say the man was pulling on the child's legs so hard, that her shoes fell off. this all happened around 5:40 yesterday afternoon. this was near south white and aborn. a mother said she was playing in the front yard playing with her siblings and the man made a comment that she didn't like and she tried to pull her away. >> it's very turning. it's a brazen act on her part. without locating him, we don't know what his mental state was but obviously the mother felt the need to pull the child away from her. >> reporter: the mother was able to hang onto her daughter and run into the house. the man was last seen walking away on paven drive. police canvassed the area looking for the man

. ktvu alex savidge is there now with the latest on the woman and her fire damaged apartment. what do you know alex? >> reporter: we do know this woman was in very bad shape when firefighters pulled her out of that burning apartment. it's the second story unit here at this complex in hayward. you can see a lot of damage from the outside. this was an elderly woman who suffered from burns and smoke inhalation. after this fire started about 9:30 or so inside theout. we're right in her second and e street. crews on scene told us it was a fairly small kitchen fire to begin with. as crews made their way through the unit, they found this woman inside and she was unresponsive at the time. firefighters did say they were able to get a pulse on this woman once she was transported to the hospital. crews tell us this wasn't a large fire by any stretch that left this woman injured. >> we were able to extinguish the fire fairly quickly with an aggressive interior attack. we did find a victim within the home. they found him in the bedroom during a primary search. >> reporter: no one else aside from that

before 4:00 this morning in a vacant building along the waterfront in the city of crockett. ktvu's alex savidge was the first reporter on the scene and tells us why investigators are calling this fire suspicious. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning, tori. it appears suspicious because this is an abandoned building on the pier and it caught fire in the middle of the night. this whats a challenging battle for the firefighters. i want to -- this was a challenging battle for firefighters. here's why -- they had access issues all morning long. they couldn't go out on the pier because of the danger of it collapsing. they had to spray water from the shoreline. but they cannot access a lot of hot spots. that's the reason that a fire boat had to be called in a short time ago from pittsburg to help out. we watch as that boat sprayed water on the underside of the pier where a lot of the wood was continuing to burn. now, the fire broke out just about 3:00 this morning. this is here lowering and jackson in crockett, right on the waterfront and next to the sugar factory. crews caught this f

. ktvu's alex savage on the scene. >> reporter: good morning. we are learning this is a home less encampment on fire. it's near the park. if you have been out near this area, it's nearby great highway and balboa street. you can see the firefighters peg out the hot spot ins the area. there was a fair amount of trees in the area where the encampment is. as we pan to the left, about three homes were threatened. we will show you where the firefighters are putting out the fire. the fire broke out on a piece of private property and this has been a long time problem, this home less encampment. there have been apparently three fire ins the past nine months. >> there's been a problem with the home less people getting in the area. fire started this morning, went undetectived for a while until seen by the garbage company. the fire get into the juniper trees which take off easily. >> reporter: the flames looked pretty large when the fire firefighters got on the scene, but thankfully, they got it under control and they are making sure the fire is out in the area. steep terrain in the area. the
